Scotland's and the UK's highest peak, Ben Nevis is an icon of the Scottish landscape. Visiting the highlands during a solo trip, I was captivated by the view of this peak and its imploded top, and was obsessed by tales of those who had been brave enough to climb it. The highland mountains are beautiful, sublime but also exceptionally dangerous to the inexperienced. I painted this landscape as viewed from the safety of the coach, experiencing the mountain from a humble, respectable distance.
